Baseball Recap: Pershing County Triumphs

Pershing County took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sierra Lutheran, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs skirted past the Falcons 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since March 17th.

Ayden Montes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Pershing County is 9-2 when Montes posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Taylor Montes was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Pershing County's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-10. As for Sierra Lutheran, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-13.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pershing County will challenge rival Silver Stage at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sierra Lutheran is set to face off against their familiar foe Yerington at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
