Basketball Recap: Pomeroy Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Pomeroy and Oakesdale, and Oakesdale kept the tradition alive. The Pirates took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nighthawks on Saturday. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 41-28 to the Nighthawks when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Pomeroy's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Oakesdale, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pomeroy and Liberty Christian will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. As for Oakesdale, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Garfield-Palouse at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2026.
