Basketball Game Preview: La Lumiere Lakers vs. Montverde Academy Eagles

La Lumiere hasn't had much luck against Montverde Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The La Lumiere Lakers will square off against the Montverde Academy Eagles at 5:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Monday, La Lumiere was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 66-62 to St. Francis. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lakers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked sixth in Indiana, while the Spartans are ranked 206th in Illinois).

Meanwhile, Montverde Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 40-39 to Link Academy. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

La Lumiere will have to contain CJ Ingram as he made an impact in Montverde Academy's last game. He went 6-for-10 on his way to 14 points. Ingram is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hudson Greer, who posted 11 points.

La Lumiere's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Montverde Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-5.

La Lumiere suffered a grim 75-54 defeat to Montverde Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can La Lumiere avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
