Lutheran South Academy skates past Kelly Catholic with ease

Winning is just a little bit easier when you make nine more threes than your opponent, a fact the Lutheran South Academy Pioneers proved on Friday. They blew past Kelly Catholic, posting a 72-30 victory on the road. Given Lutheran South Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while Kelly Catholic is ranked 1084th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lutheran South Academy was led to victory by Jaylen Walker and Kai Conerly. Walker scored 18 points along with six rebounds, while Conerly scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Thomas Kuhlow, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blair Clarke, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Brocato, who scored nine points.

Lutheran South Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-14 record this season. As for Kelly Catholic, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-23.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran South Academy will take on The Woodlands Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lutheran South Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Kelly Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Emery/Weiner at 12:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
