Softball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

If Eastern was riding high fresh off their 19-6 takedown of Federal Hocking on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles came up short against the Marietta Tigers on Wednesday, falling 9-3. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Ashlynn Thomas 2027 made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aedre Ault 2028, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Eastern has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Marietta, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern will square off against Belpre at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marietta, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Waterford at 5:00 p.m.
