Softball Recap: Childress Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Childress and Slaton, and Childress kept the tradition alive. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Tigers 5-4 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-3 back in February.

Ansley Parr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 24 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaleigh Ross was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Felton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Childress has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Slaton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-11.

Childress will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
