Basketball Game Preview: Hawthorne Bears vs. Waldwick Warriors

The Hawthorne Bears will face off against the Waldwick Warriors on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Hawthorne didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Midland Park, but they still walked away with a 54-48 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Waldwick strolled past Manchester Regional with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 55-37. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Falcons are ranked 108th).

The win made it two in a row for Waldwick and bumps their season record up to 11-12. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points over those games. As for Hawthorne, their victory bumped their record up to 11-9.

Everything went Hawthorne's way against Waldwick when the teams last played back in January, as Hawthorne made off with a 55-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hawthorne since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
