Baseball Recap: Exeter Comes Up Short

After flying high against Verona on Monday, Exeter came back down to earth. The Tigers fell 5-2 to the Southwest Trojans on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Cason Antle was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Antle wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brexton Bowman, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Exeter's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Southwest, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 3-9 record.

Exeter has already played their next contest (against Non Varsity Opponent), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Southwest, they will square off against Lamar at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
