Baseball Recap: Morse's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of five wins, Morse's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Leavitt Hornets by a score of 10-9. The Shipbuilders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hornets earlier this season, when they won 10-8.

Oscar Gallant put in work no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Gallant was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jackson Murray made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Eli Sommers also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Morse's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Leavitt, their record is now 4-5.

Coming up, Morse will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. Ararat at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Shipbuilders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Leavitt, they will venture away from home to challenge Waterville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
