Basketball Recap: King's Academy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

King's Academy lost against Saint Andrew back in February of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The King's Academy Lions fell 57-47 to the Saint Andrew's Scots. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Scots are ranked 30th).

King's Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Javian Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The game was Jones' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Matt Mcpherson was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Saint Andrew's was led to victory by Xander Gerard and Alex Montes. Gerard went 8 for 12 on his way to 23 points and three steals, while Montes dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Montes also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Brendan Gerard was another key player, posting five points.

King's Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Saint Andrew's, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

King's Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-48 loss against Grandview Prep on the 4th. As for Saint Andrew's, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 80-47 victory against Braddock on the 4th.
