The Monterey Plainsmen will square off against the Tascosa Rebels at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Monterey is headed in fresh off scoring the most  points they have   all season. They were the clear victors by  a  56-34 margin over Lubbock on Friday. The  victory continues a trend for the Plainsmen in their matchups with the Westerners: they've now won nine in a row.

Monterey got their  win on the backs of several key players, but it was  Darron Moore out in front who rushed for 198 yards and one  score on only 11 carries, and also caught one  TD. With that strong performance,  Moore is now averaging an impressive 106  rushing yards per game.  Jonah Reed was another key signal caller, throwing for 211 yards and six  touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Monterey was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 246  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Meanwhile, Tascosa really took it to Lubbock for the full four quarters, racking up  a  69-7 victory. The  game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached  42-0.
 Tascosa's win came from a few key players Monterey will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was  Coltyn Fulton, who rushed for 59 yards and one  TD on only five carries. The team also got some help courtesy of  Deandre Sanders, who rushed for 59 yards and one  score.
 Monterey now  has a winning record of 4-3. As for Tascosa, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
 Everything came up roses for Monterey against Tascosa when the teams last played  back in October of 2024, as the  squad secured  a  56-28 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Rebels'  Tj Tillman, who picked up 89 receiving yards and a pair of  touchdowns.
