Basketball Game Preview: Little Wound Mustangs vs. Lower Brule Sioux

The Little Wound Mustangs will take on the Lower Brule Sioux in a tournament on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, Little Wound didn't have too much trouble with Crow Creek as they won 61-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Lower Brule had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Marty Indian 72-42.

Lower Brule's win came from a few key players Little Wound will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Payton Palmier, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Elliot LaRoche, who went 5 of 9 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.

Little Wound came up short against Lower Brule when the teams last played back in February, falling 65-54. Can Little Wound avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
