Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mathews). They breezed by the Harding Skippers to the tune of 56-11 on Saturday. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Skippers, too.
Despite the loss, Harding saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taylor Prioreschi posted eight points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Prioreschi has posted since back in January.
The win made it two in a row for Mathews and bumps their season record up to 2-6. As for Harding, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mathews and East Palestine will round out the year against one another at at 5:30 p.m. on December 28th. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: East Palestine has lost three straight at home , while Mathews has lost seven on the road (dating back to last season). As for Harding, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mentor Christian at 4:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
