Basketball Recap: Mary Persons Triumphs

Mary Persons took a 20-point loss the last time they faced off against Cairo, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs slipped by the Syrupmakers 39-38 on Wednesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bulldogs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Syrupmakers are ranked 95th).

Mary Persons has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Cairo, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mary Persons will square off against Sandy Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cairo, they will be playing at home against Bainbridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Syrupmakers are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
