It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Kirbyville Wildcats can now relate to. They lost to Shepherd at home by a decisive 42-28 margin on Thursday. It was the first time this season that Kirbyville let down their fans at home.

Preston Stephens was his usual excellent self, rushing for 298 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.0 yards per carry. Stephens was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Landen Dellinger was another key contributor, rushing for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Kirbyville's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Shepherd, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-5.

Kirbyville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Shepherd will head out on the road to face off against Franklin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Shepherd likes a good challenge.
