Basketball Recap: Moon Area Extends Road Winning Streak to Eight

On Saturday, it was close, but the Moon Area Tigers sidestepped the Taylor Allderdice Dragons for a 54-52 victory. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Dragons are ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Dragons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lukas Stead, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Asher Schwartz, who posted 14 points along with six boards and five assists.

Moon Area's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.1 points per game. As for Taylor Allderdice, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Coincidentally, Moon Area and Taylor Allderdice will both be playing Chartiers Valley the next time they take the court. Moon Area will head out to face Chartiers Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Taylor Allderdice will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on January 26th.
