Basketball Game Preview: Union Tigers vs. Berkeley Springs Indians

The Union Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Berkeley Springs Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Union took on East Hardy on Thursday. Union fell 45-38 to East Hardy. The Tigers have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Union's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sophie Carr, who went 8-for-18 on her way to 21 points and five boards, and Chanelle Sutton, who posted eight points along with 11 rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Carr has posted since back in January of 2024. Aleigha Hanlin also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Berkeley Springs got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They escaped with a win on Monday against Paw Paw by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45.

Union's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Berkeley Springs, their win bumped their record up to 2-15.

Union came up short against Berkeley Springs in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 36-29. Can Union avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
