Basketball Game Preview: Chatham Central Bears vs. Southeast Alamance Stallions

Chatham Central is 0-3 against Southeast Alamance since December of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Chatham Central Bears just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Southeast Alamance Stallions at 6:00 p.m.

Chatham Central is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Northwood on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Chatham Central lost 53-31 to Northwood. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Southeast Alamance entered their tilt with Cummings on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 73-4 victory over the Cavaliers. The team accrued 61 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.

Southeast Alamance's win came from a few key players Chatham Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Inysia McIver, who posted 15 points in addition to six boards and five steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Shaniya Paylor, who had 12 points and seven steals.

Southeast Alamance's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 15.3 points per game. As for Chatham Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.

Chatham Central was dealt a bruising 73-18 loss at the hands of Southeast Alamance in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Chatham Central was down 49-4.
