Football Recap: Holy Cross Skates Past New Braunfels Christian Academy with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holy Cross). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the New Braunfels Christian Academy Wildcats 42-7. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.

Taylor Flores continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 181 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 127 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocky Orozco, who rushed for 32 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Holy Cross was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 314 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Holy Cross, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Landon Tijerina, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

The win was the third in a row for Holy Cross, bringing their record up to 3-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.3 points on average over those games. As for New Braunfels Christian Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Holy Cross is set to take on their familiar foe Geneva at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Orozco and Caleb Quitadamo. Meanwhile, New Braunfels Christian Academy will square off against rival Hill Country Christian School of Austin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
