Volleyball Recap: Suffolk Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Suffolk Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Portsmouth Christian Patriots. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Suffolk Christian Academy ultimately came up short, they really made Portsmouth Christian work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-16, 26-24, 26-28, 16-14.

Lyla Spence had a dynamite game For Portsmouth Christian., getting eight digs and seven aces. What's more, Spence racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in October of 2024.

Suffolk Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Portsmouth Christian, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Suffolk Christian Academy will host Oaktree Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Portsmouth Christian, they will be playing at home against Denbigh Baptist Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
