Baseball Recap: North Providence Takes Down Ranked Chariho

North Providence faced Chariho in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Chargers. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Jayden Allard, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mike Ryan, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

North Providence's record now sits at 10-1. As for Chariho, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Providence will challenge Smithfield at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Chariho, they will square off against Prout at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
