Volleyball Recap: Buckeye Local Comes Up Short

Buckeye Local lost against Shadyside back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Panthers lost 3-0 to the Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Tigers since October 5, 2021.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-17, 25-15.

Kylie Watt paced Buckeye Local's offense, picking up four kills. Watt were helped by Karlie Lander and Samantha Westfall, who contributed five assists each. Finally, Brooke Kovalski kept Buckeye Local's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Shadyside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ali Weatherson, who had six digs, three aces, and one block. Weatherson is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Addasyn Melanko, who had six digs, six aces, and five kills.

This is the second loss in a row for Buckeye Local and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Shadyside, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.

Buckeye Local didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Harrison Central on the 8th. As for Shadyside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Caldwell on the 8th.
