Basketball Recap: El Camino Comes Up Short

El Camino was the 59-55 winner over San Juan Hills when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats lost 60-38 to the Stallions on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 936th, while the Stallions are ranked 339th).

Despite the loss, El Camino still got an impressive performance from Aaron Williams, who shot 67% from the field en route to 14 points. Thanks to that strong game, Williams now owns an excellent 53.3% shooting accuracy. Ian Diaz was another key player, putting up six points and nine rebounds.

It was another big night for Rocco Jensen, who posted 22 points and six boards for San Juan Hills. The game was Jensen's sixth in a row with at least 22 points. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Francik, who earned eight points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for El Camino and nudges their season record down to 2-6. As for San Juan Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

El Camino didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-39 defeat against Jurupa Hills on the 12th. As for San Juan Hills, they have also already played their next game, an 86-53 loss against Mater Dei on the 11th.
