Softball Recap: Atlantic City Wins Going Away Against Pleasantville

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oakcrest, Atlantic City was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They never let the Pleasantville Greyhounds get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. The game marked the Vikings' most dominant win of the season so far.

Kayla Barrie and Nelly Sosa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Barrie struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Sosa struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Barrie scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Sosa went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that Sosa hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Marota, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andreanna Micali, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Atlantic City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Atlantic City pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 17.0 runs this season. As for Pleasantville, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atlantic City will welcome Millville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pleasantville, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Oakcrest at 4:00 p.m.
