Basketball Recap: Bismarck Takes a Loss

Bismarck lost against Westwood Baptist Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bismarck Indians took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westwood Baptist Academy Eagles. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Bismarck still got an impressive performance from Austin Dunlap, who went 10 of 23 en route to 25 points and five steals. Dunlap's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lucas Dickey, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bismarck smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Westwood Baptist Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cody VanDover, who went 7 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Anden Moore, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 rebounds.

Bismarck's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bismarck will face off against Kingston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they will head out to square off against Liberty Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
