Baseball Recap: Monarch Comes Up Short

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Monarch was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of the Horizon Hawks by a score of 3-2. The Coyotes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Evan DiCarlo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Chase Knudsen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

With the loss, Monarch broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-12. As for Horizon, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monarch will head out to square off against Denver North at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Horizon, they will venture away from home to take on Westminster at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
