Softball Recap: Foran Extends Winning Streak to Five

Foran strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lauralton Hall Crusaders a 17-0 shutout. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Abigail Corris was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Norah Bove was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nyla Jaser, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Foran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Foran's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Lauralton Hall, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
