Basketball Recap: The Burlington School Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

The Burlington School picked up another tournament win on Friday. They secured a 64-58 W over the T.W. Andrews Red Raiders. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Red Raiders are ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Kaden Hammond, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. What's more, he also racked up six blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Cam Flippen was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

The Burlington School's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for T.W. Andrews, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

The Burlington School won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cardinal Gibbons at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Burlington School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.9 points per game this season. As for T.W. Andrews, they will head out to face off against North Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. One thing working in T.W. Andrews' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
