Softball Recap: Shallowater Triumphs

The third road game was the charm for Shallowater, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They had just enough and edged out the Hereford Whitefaces 5-3.

Gracie Banks made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peyton Ramirez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Skyler Stephenson, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Shallowater is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Hereford, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Shallowater will face off against Kermit at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hereford, they will challenge Stanton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buffaloes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something the Whitefaces will no doubt try to take advantage of.
