Basketball Game Preview: Rangely Panthers vs. Cotopaxi Pirates

The Rangely Panthers will take on the Cotopaxi Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cotopaxi will be up against a hot Rangely squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 21. Rangely blew past Grand Valley 54-15 on Saturday. With the Panthers ahead 29-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 31 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Ducey, who posted 12 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Rangely smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Cotopaxi over Cripple Creek-Victor in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Cotopaxi blew Cripple Creek-Victor out of the water with a 44-17 final score. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Rangely pushed their record up to 21-0 with the win, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.8 points over those games. As for Cotopaxi, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.
