Basketball Recap: Linn's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

Linn entered their game against Capital City on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Linn Wildcats fell just short of the Capital City Cavaliers by a score of 47-45. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcats came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Cavaliers are ranked 158th).

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Vivien Baker, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds Baker has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Paige Senevey, who posted eight points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Linn smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Linn's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-3. As for Capital City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Linn will head out to face off against Fatima at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Capital City, they will venture away from home to challenge Rock Bridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Capital City is facing Rock Bridge at the right time seeing as Rock Bridge is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
