Preview: Lincoln Northeast Rockets vs. Pius X Thunderbolts
The Lincoln Northeast Rockets will head out on the road to challenge the Pius X Thunderbolts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Lincoln Northeast sitting on four straight wins and Pius X on seven.
Even though Benson scored an imposing 60 points on Saturday, Lincoln Northeast still came out on top. Lincoln Northeast secured a 65-60 W over Benson.
Doneelah Washington continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. Washington is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Yelaniya Bradley was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Pius X scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They blew past Fremont 78-39 at home. Pius X has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Lincoln Northeast's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Pius X, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Lincoln Northeast was able to grind out a solid victory over Pius X when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 57-44. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Pius X's Sara Iburg, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds.
