Recap: Brewer Bears vs. Aledo Bearcats
The Brewer Bears waltzed into Saturday's contest with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 51-40 win over Aledo. Given Brewer's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while Aledo is ranked 370th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Brewer to victory were Tyren Mitchell and Julian Perez. Mitchell scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds, while Perez scored 19 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Perez has scored at least 25% of Brewer's points. The team also got some help courtesy of BJ Clark, who scored 8 points.
Brewer has yet to lose a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 13-3 record. As for Aledo, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brewer will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northwest at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. As for Aledo, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Timber Creek at 7:30 p.m. on December 13th. Timber Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Aledo likes a good challenge.
