Basketball Game Preview: Bloomfield Bees vs. Wausa Vikings

The Bloomfield Bees will head out to challenge the Wausa Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Bloomfield is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Homer: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Bloomfield blew Homer out of the water with a 63-29 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bees had established a 29 point advantage.

Bloomfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keaten Gilsdorf led the charge by putting up nine points and five steals. Gilsdorf has become a key player for Bloomfield: the team is undefeated when he posts at least five steals, but 7-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Keldon Loecker, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 13 points and seven boards.

Bloomfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Wausa made easy work of Crofton on Friday and carried off a 78-54 victory. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Bloomfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points over those games. As for Wausa, they pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Bloomfield came up short against Wausa in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 51-40. Can Bloomfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
