Basketball Recap: Orange Cove Takes a Loss

Orange Cove suffered their biggest defeat since January 5th on Wednesday. They were beaten by the Immanuel Eagles 70-40. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 76-30 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2015.

Orange Cove lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Diego Sanchez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Sanchez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Miguel Lugo was another key player, putting up nine points.

Immanuel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Owen Jackson, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Vossler, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points and five rebounds.

Orange Cove's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Immanuel, they moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Orange Cove didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-45 loss against Lemoore on the 5th. As for Immanuel, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-64 defeat against Stockdale on the 5th.
