Recap: Pungo Christian Academy Raiders vs. Ridgecroft Rams
The Pungo Christian Academy Raiders were the 52-39 winner over the Ridgecroft Rams when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Pungo Christian Academy received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 41-24 to Ridgecroft. While losing is never fun, Pungo Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Ridgecroft is ranked 42nd).
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katie Baxter, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ginny Pugh, who scored six points along with four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ridgecroft to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makenzie Slaughter, who scored 15 points along with seven assists. Another player making a difference was Kate Chamblee, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Pungo Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 13-9. As for Ridgecroft, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
Pungo Christian Academy will head out on the road to square off against Ridgecroft at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgecroft will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. They will take on Pungo Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Pungo Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
