Volleyball Game Preview: Ovilla Christian Eagles vs. First Baptist Saints

Ovilla Christian has gone a perfect 10-0 against First Baptist recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out to square off against the Saints at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ovilla Christian has 19 straight victories, First Baptist has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Ovilla Christian had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Alcuin on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Hawks.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Ovilla Christian took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-9, 25-14.

Gracie Scott was the offensive standout of the match as she had eight digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (eight).

Scott wasn't the only good servers: Ovilla Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 15 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, First Baptist came up short against Alcuin two weeks ago, falling 3-0.

First Baptist's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Ovilla Christian, their win bumped their record up to 25-3-1.

Ovilla Christian took their victory against First Baptist in their previous matchup on October 2nd by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
