Baseball Game Preview: Sullivan Golden Arrows vs. Washington Hatchets

The Sullivan Golden Arrows are taking a road trip to square off against the Washington Hatchets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Sullivan will be strutting in after a victory while Washington will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, Sullivan was able to grind out a solid win over North Knox, taking the game 8-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Arrows.

Hunter Mason was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Jaden Norris was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Ty Hamilton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Sullivan hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Knox struck out 14 times.

Meanwhile, Washington had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Evansville Harrison on Tuesday.

Ben Merold was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Zach Frady, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Sullivan might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Washington when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Golden Arrows avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
