Football Recap: Beckman Takes a Loss

After flying high against Foothill on Monday, Beckman came back down to earth. The Patriots were outmatched by the Orange Lutheran Lancers and fell 46-7. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Lancers are ranked first).

When it comes to explaining why Beckman lost on Tuesday, don't look at Marina Babayani. Despite the final result, she threw for 256 yards and one TD while completing 87.1% of her passes, and also rushed for 35 yards.

Makena Cook was her usual excellent self, throwing for 304 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt for Orange Lutheran. That's the most passing touchdowns Cook has posted since back in October of 2024. Capri Cuneo was another key player, picking up 70 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Beckman's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Orange Lutheran, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Beckman has already played their next matchup, a 33-27 defeat against Mater Dei on the 27th. As for Orange Lutheran, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 52-6 win against Esperanza on the 28th.
