Baseball Game Preview: Mount Vernon Majors vs. Annandale Atoms

Mount Vernon and Annandale are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Majors will head out to take on the Atoms at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mount Vernon has three straight victories, Annandale has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Mount Vernon made easy work of Hylton and carried off an 18-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Majors, who have now won seven matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Talon Camacho was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Justin Kelly was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mount Vernon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Annandale came up short against Meridian on Monday, falling 16-1.

Annandale's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Mount Vernon, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.

Everything went Mount Vernon's way against Annandale in their previous meeting back in March, as Mount Vernon made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Majors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
