Basketball Recap: Baker's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

If Baker was feeling good fresh off their 51-27 takedown of Immanuel Christian last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Baker Braves fell just short of the Trona Tornadoes by a score of 49-46 on Monday. The Braves' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Baker still got an impressive performance from Anthony Ortiz, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. Ortiz's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Ibarra, who posted seven points and five steals.

Baker's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-8. As for Trona, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season.

Baker will square off against Lone Pine at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Lone Pine's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. Trona does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
