Baseball Recap: Bangs Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Bangs, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victor by a 24-1 margin over the Sonora Broncos on Monday. Considering the Dragons have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Skylar Minshew made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rex Guerrero, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Duncan, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Bangs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bangs pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Sonora, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Bangs will head out on the road to challenge Goldthwaite at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sonora, they will welcome Mason at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mason will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Sonora surely won't give up without a fight.
