The Gila Ridge Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Skyline Coyotes at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Gila Ridge made easy work of McClintock and carried off a 15-2 win. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by ten runs or more this season.

Violet Silva was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Gila Ridge got a massive performance out of Tayler Reischmann, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Aimee Cisneros was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Gila Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McClintock only posted a batting average of .333.
Meanwhile, Skyline can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Mesa by a score of 16-12.
Like Gila Ridge, Skyline also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaleigha Clytus. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Clytus was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5.
In other batting news, Jordan Seiuli was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Lilliana Leon-Valenzuela, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Skyline's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-16. As for Gila Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Skyline's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gila Ridge has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Skyline, though, as they've been averaging 11.2 hits. Given Gila Ridge's sizable advantage in that area, the Coyotes will need to find a way to close that gap.
Gila Ridge took their victory against Skyline when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 22-0 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Coyotes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
