Softball Recap: Gwynedd Mercy Academy Takes a Loss

Gwynedd Mercy Academy had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it six. They fell just short of the Villa Joseph Marie Jems by a score of 4-3. The Monarchs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Jems from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Payton Krapf, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Krapf has hit this season. Haley Kramer was another, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Villa Joseph Marie, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

On Villa Joseph Marie's side, Delaney Radtke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits. Radtke has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lindsay Rooney, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

Coming up, Gwynedd Mercy Academy will face off against Merion Mercy Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Bears will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Monarchs surely won't give up without a fight. Villa Joseph Marie will be paying especially close attention to Gwynedd Mercy Academy's matchup: after Gwynedd Mercy Academy faces off against Merion Mercy Academy, they'll take on Villa Joseph Marie again at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
