Softball Recap: South St. Paul Drops Highest Score of Season Against St. Anthony Village

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South St. Paul). They blew past the St. Anthony Village Huskies 15-8 on Wednesday. With that victory, the Packers brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Audrey Madson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She also set a new season-high mark in runs with three.

On the hitting side, Sidney Thompson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emma Mauer, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South St. Paul kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

South St. Paul's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for St. Anthony Village, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Coming up, South St. Paul will head out to take on Two Rivers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Packers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for St. Anthony Village, they will welcome Spring Lake Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
