League recap: New Hanover gets boost in national rankings after successful week

4A Mideastern league recap: 5/7/12

After a week in which it went 2-0, New Hanover jumped from 54 to 39 in the national rankings, the biggest increase in the league.

Koty Howard was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .750 average with four RBIs. Meanwhile, Ashley put together a 1-1 week.

Ashley's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only 15 hits and eight walks, both of which led the league. Ashley has given up a mere 104 hits on the year in addition to compiling 169 strikeouts. Matt Davis is the leader in that category with 50 Ks on the season.
