Volleyball Recap: Benton Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Benton hadn't done well against Carterville recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Rangers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Lions. For the Rangers, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 win the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Benton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 15-9.

Benton's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Carterville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Benton will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Murphysboro [Co-op] at 2:00 p.m. As for Carterville, they will face off against Pinckneyville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
