After flying high against Strayhorn last Thursday, Myrtle came back down to earth. The Hawks were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 21-20 to the Water Valley Blue Devils. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Tucker Elliott threw for 59 yards while completing 85.7% of his passes. Harlem McClendon was his top target, picking up 59 receiving yards. On the ground, Kyrell Pruett rushed for 62 yards.

Zae Bradford continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Water Valley, rushing for 100 yards and two scores, while also throwing for 109 yards and one TD while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Myrtle's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Water Valley, their record is now an identical 6-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Myrtle will face off against rival Bruce at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Water Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe Strayhorn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
