Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Payton Reed and Harrison Herndon Lead Sutton to Victory

Sutton won the last time they faced Wilber-Clatonia and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Sutton Mustangs walked away with a 50-40 win over the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Wolverines are ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sutton was led to victory by Harrison Herndon and Payton Reed. Herndon posted 15 points, while Reed dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Herndon continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aidan Jones, who had nine points and seven assists.

Wilber-Clatonia lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cash Keslar, who went 5-for-10 en route to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameson Conway, who earned ten points and five boards.

Sutton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Wilber-Clatonia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.

Sutton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-47 defeat against Fillmore Central on the 14th. As for Wilber-Clatonia, they have also already played their next game, a 56-37 victory against David City on the 14th.
