The Triton Hawks will take on the Lee County Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Triton has three straight victories, Lee County has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Triton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Overhills with a sharp 19-6 win on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Hawks with their most commanding win of the season.
Addie Stanley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stanley was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Bailey Johnson was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Paisley Lucas, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Triton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Lee County came up short against Hoke County on Friday, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Yellow Jackets have suffered against the Bucks since March 11, 2022.
Triton's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lee County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything went Triton's way against Lee County in their previous meeting back in March of 2020, as Triton made off with a 13-3 win. Will Triton repeat their success, or does Lee County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
